A man in his fifties was killed in a Burrillville house fire on Monday.

Fire crews responded to 145 Steere Farm Road in Harrisville at noon and observed heavy flames coming from an upstairs bedroom.

Police and Fire fighters attempted to gain access to the inside of the home but were prevented by heavy heat and fire.

The Rhode Island Medical Examiner responded to the scene. The victim has not yet been identified.

Fire departments in Pascoag, Oakland Mapleville, Nasonville and Chepachet assisted Harrisville in containing the fire.
